A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Garcia Laboratory in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Michigan (for more information, please see: https://pharmacy.umich.edu/garcia-lab). The Garcia lab is developing novel antibiotics targeting drug resistant M. tuberculosis RNA polymerase (MTB RNAP) and VirF, a virulence-regulating transcription factor in the enteric pathogen Shigella flexneri. We are using both structure-based and high-throughput screening approaches in a collaborative effort with medicinal chemists, structural biologists and microbiologists.
Successful candidates will have a proven track record of publishing in high impact journals, experience in biochemistry/enzymology, medicinal chemistry or chemical biology, excellent communication skills and can successfully work as a member of a team. An emphasis will be placed on candidates who have demonstrated themselves to be highly motivated, creative problem solvers in their research area, and have leadership potential.
Interested applicants should have their CV and three letters of references sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
