Development of methods and prospective monitoring protocols of cellular immune responses directed against viral/fungal pathogens and tumour antigens in adult and pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies, undergoing chemo-radiotherapy or bone marrow/peripheral blood stem cell transplantations or in other groups of immunocompromised patients (i.e. primary immunodeficiencies and secondary immunodeficiencies like solid organ transplantation), with the aim to provide a refined stratification of either the risk to develop viral-related complications or the risk of neoplastic disease relapse, in the patient categories mentioned above. Such objectives will be achieved through the following research activities: A) longitudinal clinical studies of immune responses directed against: i) viral infections (for example herpesviral infections) and fungal infections (invasive aspergillosis, mucormycosis and fusariois) [OMISSIS]
