Numerical and experimental mechanical characterization of alternative mammary prostheis
The research activity will be part of the project REGENERA, a Regione Lombardia grant. REGENERA aims at the development, validation and industrialization of an alternative mammary prosthesis made of a biodegradable, porous, sinthetic material developed by Tensive s.r.l. The prosthesis is meant as a natural substitute of actual silicone prosthesis for mammary reconstruction or augmentation. In this context, the expected activity within the present “assegno di ricerca”, deals with the prosthesis mechanical function validation, to be performed on vergin and explanted prosthesis, by means of experimental in vitro tests and numerical modelling based on the proelastiity theory. The activity goal is to determine the stress limits for the prosthesis and its use conditions.
