Job Description

The Field & Security Instruments business is seeking a Material Chemist. Responsibilities include:
  • Operation of ICP and other instrumentation
  • Operation of custom, automated production equipment
  • Synthesis of high purity raw materials
  • Daily operation of manufacturing work cells used for the production of TLD material
  • Develop and report metrics
  • Design and conduct chemical and physical experiments for the purposes of improving upon existing materials and processes, or in the development of new products
  • Lead process improvement teams

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, wet chemistry experience and analytical chemistry experience
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment and production techniques pertaining to organic synthesis
  • Mathematics, statistics
  • Experimental design and data analysis
  • Proficient with a wide range of core computer applications: spreadsheets, data analysis and word processing
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Knowledge of chemical safety, SDS programs, HMIS labeling and PPE
  • Knowledge of QMS
  • Some travel may be required
