Research Associate, Science Specialitst
The Office of the Vice President for Research at Indiana University is seeking a Research Associate to serve as part of the strategic research initiatives team. Candidates must have a PhD degree in the physical or natural sciences, as well as demonstrated experience in basic or applied research. Responsibilities will include background research related to external funding opportunities and identifying appropriate IU faculty to respond to these opportunities; researching potential funding opportunities in the sciences and social sciences; and preparing position papers and background materials for the Vice President for Research and senior leaders. This position requires strategic thinking and analysis, the ability to provide analyses of external funding trends, preparation of recommendations, and working with research development staff to frame responses to RFPs and external funding agencies.
Experience with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research is highly desirable. Candidates must also be familiar with a variety of external funding agencies. Experience with the external funding process (proposal development, submission, grant management, impact analytics) is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully, professionally, and effectively with a diverse group of faculty, scientists, administrative staff, and other members of the research community is a must, as is demonstrated success in communicating technical and detailed information.
