PhD Research Fellowship in Seismic Modelling of Faults (ref no 2017/10117)
The Department of Geosciences seeks a highly motivated geologist that can enrich and strengthen the Department in subjects related to risking of faults in sedimentary basins. The aim of the work is threefold; (i) perform some outcrop mapping of faults in sandstone-shale successions as analogue's to subsurface faults and analyze the in-house fault database for geometric patterns, (ii) undertake 3D seismic study of fault zones encountered in high-quality seismic data from the Norwegian Continental Shelf (including CO2 storage sites), and (iii) use geometric information on faults from the other tasks to consider thresholds in seismic imaging by a systematic synthetic seismic modelling workflow.
