Department of Molecular and Cell Biology & Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute

 

The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) and the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute (HWNI) are soliciting applications for an Open-Level (tenure-track or tenured) faculty position in Neurobiology. The position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level and rank will be determined on qualifications and experience. The expected start date is July 1, 2018.

 

We seek applicants studying fundamental aspects of nervous system function, in the broad areas of molecular, cellular or synaptic neurobiology, neurological disease, or neural circuit development or function. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research, and an interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching and promoting diversity and equal opportunity. A Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Molecular and Cell Biology, or a related field is required at time of application.

Assistant professor applicants are required to upload the following materials: Curriculum vitae; a summary of major research accomplishments (approximately 250 words); a summary of your ongoing and planned research program (approximately 1,500 words plus up to one page of figures and a list of essential publication citations); complete list of your publications; three significant publications (for each significant publication, provide a statement that begins with the manuscript title and author list and then summarize, in approximately 300 words, the significance of the selected publication); a statement of y our teaching interests as well as any prior teaching and mentoring experience (approximately 500 words); and a statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to diversity through research, teaching and/or service. A cover letter is optional but recommended.
