The formation of the Galaxy: constraints from globular clusters
The successful candidate will focus on research in stellar astrophysics and in stellar populations in the context of the project on 'The formation of the Galaxy: constraints from globular clusters' fouded by the European Research Councile (ERC StG-716082). She/he will exploit observational data, specifically collected by the Hubble Space Telescope and the major ground-based facilities for this project, to study multiple stellar populations in Galactic and extragalactic stellar clusters and to investigate their role on the assembly of the Galaxy. Science topics include spectroscopy, photometry and astrometry of multiple stellar populations in globular clusters, as well as their spatial distribution and the interpretation of the observational results through the use of appropriate stellar models. Expertise in stellar spectroscopy and/or photometry and/or astrometry and/or stellar models is required.
