Flood risk assessment and management - DICA11
The research aims at developing new tools for the assessment and management of flood risk. In line with the current state of the art, an integrated approach will be adopted. Accordingly, beyond hazard assessment, the research will focus on vulnerability and damage assessment, at both the local and the catchment scale, in order to develop new tools for flood damage estimation. Moreover, the research aims at evaluating flood risk management strategies on the base of cost-benefit analysis; specific focus will be devoted to non-structural mitigation tools as early warning systems, spatial planning, insurance coverage and emergency planning. The research envisages the collaboration with local authorities dealing with flood risk.
