The project deals with the development of chiral organic fluorescent compound useful for various application( biological or chemical sensors, optoelectronic system, metal ligand). The research will be devoted to the rational design, synthesis and characterization of appropriate axially chiral organic molecules that exploit the recently discovered aggregate induced emission effect. In order to foreseen the steric and electronic requirement needed and taken into account the desired reactivity of the final molecule, DFT and TD-DFT theoretical calculations will assist the rational design of the compounds. Once assessed the desired structure and settled a retrosynthetic pathway the synthesis and characterization of the desired organic molecules will be performed. Subsequently, the optical performance of the designed compounds will be accomplished. Eventually depending on the desired activity the molecules could be tested as sensor or luminescent devices (OLED, OFET, Liquid Crystal).
