This important role will be a member of the SSES Leadership Team and will work extensively with SSES colleagues globally across Operations Management, COE, Process Excellence and Creative Studios on strategic SSES priorities.

Chief of Staff Expectations:

- Develops and executes strategic and business initiatives across the SSES organization, in support of organizational priorities aligned to Merck’s business strategy and objectives

- Serves as a member of the SSES Leadership Team and provides leadership for SSES initiatives and activities in support of organization operations, enhancements, and day-to-day requirements

- Serves as Chief of Staff for the SSES Leadership Team, overseeing the management and coordination of all leadership team meetings; ensuring optimization of meetings and topics are aligned to critical priorities and delivering on objectives

- Contributes to SSES overall global strategy development; provides information, recommendations and strategic direction to the SSES Leadership Team

- Actively engages with SSES Leadership to maintain continual focus on achievement of organization’s mission and vision

- Partners with SSES Leadership on prioritization of strategic initiatives and tracking of progress

- Collaborates and consults with SSES leadership and other key stakeholders on matters that may impact process design and enablement, procedures, operational execution and performance measurement

- Ensures the SSES Lead is adequately prepared for all internal and external meetings, working with the relevant subject matter experts as needed

- Coordinates with SSES Leaders and Finance on profit plan development and management, and assists with quarterly forecasts and long range planning

- Proactively manages headcount and workforce plan activities in collaboration with Finance and SSES Leaders

- Works closely with the SSES Communications Strategy Lead to develop SSES Leader communications

- Manages interdependencies across SSES portfolio of initiatives, to ensure conflicts and integration points are adequately considered and addressed

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Engineering, Science or Procurement related area
Required:

- 5+ years in Chief of Staff and/or PMO role with demonstrated successful implementation experience

- 3 to 5 years of experience working with senior/executive leaders

- Experience in large-scale organizational change initiatives

- Experience in strategy development, strategic planning and strategy implementation
Preferred:

- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certified

- 5+ years experience in Supplier Management and/or Operational Management

- Knowledge of performance management & reporting and operations management best practices
