The School of Interdisciplinary Science in the Faculty of Science at McMaster University invites applications for a three-year contractually limited appointment at the Assistant Professor level, to commence January 1, 2018. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a Life Sciences field at the time of appointment with academic or professional experience in science communication and should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. The duties will involve teaching a range of courses, including Science Communication, and Communication-Intensive courses with topics that include human genetics, global health, and/or biotechnology. Administrative service and student mentorship in the School are also expected in addition to participation in curriculum development in the Life Sciences program. There is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent laboratory research program, but interest in pedagogical research and student supervision is encouraged.
