Director of Scientific Affairs - Microbiome

Elysium is seeking a Director of Scientific Affairs with a focus on the microbiome.  In this position, you will be an essential member of our research team and lead all efforts associated with the microbiome platform.  You will be working closely with existing partners such as Mayo Clinic, Mass General Hospital, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.  You will also be responsible for evaluating new technologies, establishing sponsored research projects and outlining human studies.  You will be a recognized expert in the microbiome and help develop products to revolutionize consumer healthcare.  At Elysium, our mission and goal is to solve the most challenging aspects of health.


You will:

  • Be the visionary and leader for the microbiome research platform
  • Be a recognized expert in an area such as microbiology, genome sequencing, comparative genomics, transcriptomics or bioinformatics
  • Have significant experience designing rigorous experiments, interpreting data and communicating findings on the microbiome
  • Evaluate new technologies and licensing opportunities
  • Identify and manage all sponsored research projects
  • Outline human studies
  • Initiate and foster relationships with academia and other external groups to optimize the exchange of scientific information
  • Enjoy engaging in discussions with accomplished scientists
  • Utilize your scientific knowledge and strong communication skills to shape scientific content
  • Attend scientific conferences to keep current on a wide range of immunology and microbiome research
  • Absolutely love to digest scientific literature
  • Actively participate and collaborate across interdisciplinary research platforms


You must:

You have:

  • PhD in microbiology, immunology, genomics or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of related research experience
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision making skills
  • An amazing ability to communicate complex topics in well-articulated presentations
  • A track record of participating in research projects with contributions as an author to high-impact, peer-reviewed publications
