Emerging Talent Rotational (ETR) Program Description

The goal of the Emerging Talent Rotational (ETR) Program in the Information Technology division is to create a diverse, talented network of IT professionals and business leaders/influencers. The program will offer these individuals a path of differentiated exposure and investment in order to develop their technical, business, and leadership capabilities so that they know Merck’s/MSD’s business, understand IT processes and will engage meaningfully to help positively affect the company economics and impact the value realization of IT and business solutions.

We are looking for graduates with outstanding academic records of achievement and demonstrated leadership abilities, candidates who are analytical and inquisitive about the interrelationships of various components, and perceptive, quick learners committed to helping to further Merck's vision and mission.

We are also looking for a candidates who are willing to help drive our hub strategy with travel to and/or rotations in our Austin, Branchburg, Prague, and Singapore hubs.

The program allows new hires to experience three rotations over a two and a half year period (one half year, two full year) in various business areas and work locations. Sample potential locations include NJ, TX, PA, MA, and abroad. Each individual will be partnered with a buddy, a coach, and an executive mentor who will be able to help with acculturation at Merck and career planning. Rotations are assigned based on the individual’s development interest,
discussions with their mentor, and alignment with business needs.

Bachelors degree or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, Computer Science (or similar).


Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US or otherwise authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

GPA of 3.0 or higher

Willingness to potentially rotate through different geographical areas (including byt not limited to NJ, TX, PA, MA, and potentially abroad)

Passion for technology and healthcare

Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Team-oriented self-starter

Demonstrated leadership abilities

Effectively works under pressure


At least 1 internship or co-op in a related field
