Applications are sought for a Sr. Scientist position in MRL’s Bioprocess Clinical Manufacturing and Technology (BCMT). The individual will support pilot-scale campaigns for the GMP manufacture of bulk biologic (vaccines and therapeutic proteins) clinical supplies.

Primary responsibilities include; establishing priorities for raw material (RM) procurement and procuring RM internally (MMD or Pharmaceutical R&D) or externally (outside vendors), coordinating culture media (CM)/buffer manufacturing, collaborating and partnering across the network (internal and external) to benchmark, understand, influence, and execute standards of RM management, coordinating RM/CM deliveries to and from Biological Support Operations (BSO) and to Bioprocess Research and Development (BPR&D) bulk manufacturing suites (including the Biologics Pilot Plant - BPP), tracking and managing inventory of RMs and GMP Supplies (including but not limited to single-use technology and product contact components), managing RM/CM storage space, collaborating with the Process Development team to determine critical parameters, and performing CM laboratory studies (as determined).

Secondary responsibilities include technical support of the Media Buffer Preparation and Weigh and Dispense areas and USW supervisory support of all areas within BSO.

Candidate may participate in a range of activities including, but not limited to, SOP development, support of new IT initiatives, and Supply Chain Management of RMs and GMP Supplies.

Excellent understanding of the regulatory guidelines governing GMP manufacture is required.

Candidate is expected to work in a team atmosphere in close collaboration with Process Development groups, Facility Engineering, RM/CM Release, Procurement, MMD, Pharmaceutical R&D and outside vendors. Overtime and off-shift



- A Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience, OR a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required.


- Previous experience in processing of biologicals, GMP operations, media/buffer operations, and/or supervision of hourly personnel is preferred.

Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills are required.

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment is expected.
