Responsibilities include establishing a research program that leverages innovative experimental methodology, computational approaches, and/or molecular tools to understand immune system development, immune responses to microorganisms, mucosal immunology or fundamental immune mechanisms that support the maintenance of health. We are particularly interested in candidates who will apply these basic paradigms towards understanding host pathogen interactions and immune-mediated disease in developing immune systems. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.

Teaching and mentoring of graduate students and medical students is an integral component of this position. Applicants must have a clear record of productivity and ingenuity, and high likelihood of securing extramural funding. The position is affiliated with the Institute for Immunology (IFI) at the University of Pennsylvania and the newly established Protective Immunity Division at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The recruitment is part of a campus-wide initiative to promote novel immunologic strategies for preventing and treating infectious and immune mediated diseases.
