With the advent of 5G systems and future beyond-5G systems, the use of new millimeter waves and Terahertz frequency bands is foreseen, where advanced beamforming techniques or very directive adaptive antennas will have to be implemented. To this end, it is essential to have reliable, propagation models, now unavailable, for the design, for the deployment, and for assisting the real-time operation of these systems. Particularly suitable are ray-based models, which are particularly appealing today for the possibility of parallelizing them over parallel computing architectures. The research activity of the RTD-A object of this request will be mainly carried out in this area.
