The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida ( has embarked on a new initiative in CHEMICAL BIOLOGY as part of the preeminence initiative in Chemical Innovations for Cancer Research at UF that includes the expansion of existing faculty and the opening of Joseph H Hernandez Hall, which is home to state of the art organic chemistry and biochemistry teaching and research space. The next phase of this initiative involves recruitment of two nine-month, tenure-track appointments at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR to begin in August 2018.  Successful candidates will be expected to develop a research program focusing on biochemistry, chemical biology, structural biology or biophysical chemistry in the broad area of cancer research. There are currently over 40 faculty in the Department with internationally recognized expertise in biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry.  The department is also home to the interdisciplinary Butler Polymer Research Center and the Quantum Theory Project with numerous faculty interactions with the nearby UF School of Medicine. Advertised Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.


Candidates must have earned a PhD in chemistry or relevant discipline and completed productive post-doctoral fellowship training.  They must be prepared to establish their own independent, extramurally funded research program and maintain a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching.
