As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work to find creative solutions in many areas including predictive and prescriptive analytics models, creating efficient algorithms and innovative use of data. You will be at the forefront of the technology and will interact and collaborate with a diverse pool of talent.
Responsibilities of this role include:
  • Create strategy and information infrastructure to drive next generation clinical treatment and decision systems through integration of information from system apps (sensors, wearables), open/closed loops, patient outcomes, data registries, claims data bases etc., thereby increasing compliance and adherence through patient-centric treatment and decisions

  • Work closely with the rest of the Analytics team, IT, and clinical team to identify, evaluate, design, and implement statistical analyses and data exploration/visualization of internal and external, structured, and unstructured data.
  • Develop infrastructure to collect and analyze large amount of data to drive data driven decisions for the purposes of identification of digital biomarkers, and patient-centric treatment/decision systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, design, and implement statistical analyses and data exploration/visualization of internal and external, structured, and unstructured data
  • Identify appropriate wearables for portfolio support in the diabetes, neurodegenerative and pain, oncology, autoimmune therapeutic areas
  • Create a strategic infrastructure to collect and use appropriate (statistical/informatics/data mining/machine learning/casual inference methods) methods to analyze large amounts of data to drive decisions that result in patient-centric treatment/decision systems increasing compliance and adherence.
  • Have a significant understanding of the source of the data, quality of the data and the integration of these data across the components of the system, clinical data and/or other observational data, patient outcomes
  • Responsible for simulators/algorithms, development and implementation with an understanding of PK/PD modeling, control algorithms and optimization algorithms, dynamic modeling, and ordinary differential equations to drive the next generation connected care systems
  • Establish and leverage strategic relationships with academia and start-ups to accelerate and access emerging innovation.
  • Connect with the broader Lilly organization including Delivery and Device R&D, Medical, Marketing, Formulation and Discovery to inform areas of development.
  • Understand IP, freedom to operate and competitive landscape in targeted areas of research.
Basic Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a similar computational/quantitative field preferred with 5+ years of relevant experiences recommendations based on that data is required, experience with healthcare data is required
  • Experience with Python and/or R is required.
  • Experience working with Tableau or similar reporting/data visualization tool is required
  • Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Pig, HBase is required
  • Experience in using machine learning and predictive modeling techniques is required
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Familiarity with longitudinal clinical data is preferred
  • Experience working with Amazon's AWS big data services like EMR, Redshift, S3, EC2 is desirable
  • Previous medical device / pharmaceutical design / development experience with a focus on parenteral drug delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to identify problems and drive issue resolution/improvements.
  • Effective technical writing skills as well as good verbal communication / presentation skills.
Additional Information
  • Location: Cambridge, MA.
  • Travel is part of job, usually 10-15% but up to ~30% of time. Must be able to travel within US and OUS.
