The project's activities will focus on the integrated method programs to control the main pests into the pistachio orchards agroecosystem. Activities will cover in particular: 1) Monitoring and sampling of the key pests and observations at laboratory and farm levels, focusing at bio-ethological studies; 2) Identification and enhancement of the natural enemy of the pistachio bugs.
The activity involves the collection of egg parasitoids, their laboratory rearing and breeding, their controlled release in the farms and, finally, the evaluation of the integrated control of the key pests of the pistachio orchards. The research activities will be carried out at the SAAF Department of the University of Palermo and in the farms of the district of Agrigento, which will be chosen on purpose.
