Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology. The position is available immediately.
The successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. A DVM or MD, postdoctoral research and teaching experience are highly desirable. The successful candidates are expected to develop an externally funded research program in the following area:
Molecular microbiology - Application of molecular approaches to addressing fundamental questions in infectious disease microbiology including those related to pathogen biology, virulence mechanisms, pathogen discovery, and/or diagnostics.
The department conducts research and training in the area of infectious disease at the interface of animal, human and environmental health, united by an interest in addressing complex One Health issues at local, national and international levels. The department has a vibrant graduate studies program with approximately 30 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students actively engaged in research.
The University of Saskatchewan hosts a unique health science cluster, incorporating the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, College of Arts and Science, and Schools of Public Health, Environment and Sustainability, and Public Policy. Collaborative opportunities exist within these units and other campus organizations including the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Organization - International Vaccine Centre, the Canadian Light Source (Synchrotron), the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative, the Toxicology Centre, the School of Public Health and the Integrated Training Program in Infectious Diseases, Food Safety and Public Policy.
The salary band is $93,293 to $112,109 CAD annually. The position also offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long-term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefit, dental plan, extended health and vision care plan, employee assistance program, and flexible health and wellness spending program.
