The laboratory of Dr. Wendy Hanna-Rose in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Research Associate to investigate metabolic disease models. Research in the Hanna-Rose laboratory is focused on using C. elegans to probe the roles of NAD+ biosynthetic pathways in development and physiology and on modeling human syndromes caused by inborn errors of purine metabolism with the goal of deciphering molecular mechanisms leading to neuromuscular, behavioral and reproductive phenotypes. The Research Associate will be responsible for developing and managing projects, supervising teams of undergraduate researchers and managing the lab. Typical experimental methods will include metabolite measurement and comparative metabolomics using LC-MS, C. elegans culture and behavioral and morphological analysis and molecular biology methods to create transgenic C. elegans. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree and 2-3 years of rel! evant experience including a publication record demonstrating expertise in C. elegans culture and analysis and/or in metabolomics.
