Research Fellow in LCA of Approaches to Greenhouse Gas Removal from the Atmosphere

Fixed Term for 2 years, commencing February 2018

£32,094 per annum

Cranfield University is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.

This position is working on NERC's new and exciting greenhouse gas removal (GGR) programme investigating greenhouse gas removal from the atmosphere. The specific aim of the research is to harmonise consequential LCA approaches for GGR technologies and develop consequential LCA to include social and political drivers in addition to classic economic drivers.

You will be within the UP-Green-LCA project, where you will work closely with colleagues to develop and harmonise LCA methodologies to assess approaches to greenhouse gas removal.

You will be highly numerate with a PhD (or close to completion) in LCA, engineering, economics, environmental science, physics, applied science, applied mathematics and/or related subject. You will need proven expertise in life cycle assessment through publication or report preparation and expertise in economic models, techniques and methods, and ability in economic model development and in R statistical language.

An accepted or submitted publication on a relevant subject is necessary for this position together with some knowledge of market equilibrium models, LCA software, the ability to work across disciplines, and with Microsoft Excel and R statistical software.
