The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Deputy Lab Director for Operations/Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Deputy Lab Director for Operations (DLD-Ops)/Chief Operating Officer acts with the decision authority of the Laboratory Director (LD) on all matters involving operations and support functions and partners closely with the LD and Deputy Lab Director for Research (DLD-R) to develop long-term strategic plans for the Laboratory as a whole.
In addition, the DLD-Ops is responsible for the long-term strategic planning and short-term execution of operational activities, and in support of Berkeley Lab’s scientific mission, advances laboratory operations through innovative concepts and practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and managing a comprehensive array of services through direct reports leading the following Operations Divisions: Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S); Facilities; Human Resources and Workforce Diversity, Information Technology, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO); Project and Construction Management; and the Project Management Office.
