Group Leaders in Neurosciences (f/m)

fixed-term contract, full-time | salary according to TV-L

About us:
The ENI-G, a partnership between the University Medical Center Göttingen and the Max-Planck-Society, provides an outstanding environment for excellent young researchers. Successful applicants benefit from laboratory and office space up to 150 sqm, access to state-of-the-art equipment, in-house facilities, and a start-up package. Group leaders are associated with the Max Planck Society and the University Medical Center Göttingen.

Unparalleled opportunities for scientific collaboration and interaction within the Göttingen Research Campus exist, including the University of Göttingen and its Medical School, three Max Planck Institutes (Biophysical Chemistry, Experimental Medicine, and Dynamics and Self Organization), the German Primate Center, the Cluster of Excellence "Nanoscale Microscopy and Molecular Physiology of the Brain (CNMPB)" and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neurocience. In addition to the excellent research environment that ENI-G provides, its independent group leaders can gain from the resources and funding opportunities offered by the Collaborative Research Centers (CRC/ SFB) within the Göttingen Neuroscience community. The ENI-G also houses the distinguished graduate program ‘IMPRS Neurosciences’, facilitating interactions with excellent students as well as expertise in teaching. Applicants whose research focuses on topics ranging from molecular and physiological to circuit level analysis, and computational as well as cognitive neuroscience in health and disease, are encouraged to apply. A current focus at the ENI-G is sensory processing and systems neuroscience in multiple species, ranging from invertebrates to humans.

We accept applications from outstanding postdocs and junior investigators who are enthusiastic about pursuing an independent research program in an environment that supports cutting edge research with an initial appointment for up to five years with prolongation and a tenure option. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous research program and should have received a Ph.D. within the last five years, with relevant research training and a demonstrated record of excellence in research reflected by high-impact publications.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae with the 3-5 most significant publications indicated and a research statement. While the ENI-G will provide well-equipped laboratory space and a start-up package, the applicant is expected to be awarded competitive third party funding for 5 years as a prerequisite for continuous ENI support. Details about funding opportunities can be found at http://www.eni-g.de/index.php?id=groupleader.

The University Medical Center Göttingen is a tertiary care center. Its 7,400 employees work in over 65 departments and facilities to provide top-quality patient care, excellent research and modern teaching facilities. Women are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with disabilities and equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment.

We look forward to receiving your application by September 15th, 2017:
