Post-Doctoral Research position in Airway Tissue Engineering and Regeneration
Post-Doctoral Research Position
in Airway Tissue Engineering and Regeneration
A funded postdoctoral position, with support towards a pathway as an independent investigator in 2-3 years, is immediately available in the Thoracic Surgery Research Laboratory at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York, NY). Our lab is interested in airway biology and tissue engineering, with a particular focus on developing novel scaffolds using natural and synthetic biomaterials. We also investigate the role of stem cells and the immune response in the tissue remodeling process of the bioengineered grafts using both in vitro assays and large animal models. The projects in the lab encompass both basic science and translational aspects of medicine, and will offer a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of bioengineering, tissue regeneration, imaging and 3D modeling. Our ultimate goal is to create a bioengineered airway for human clinical use.
We are looking for an independent, extraordinarily motivated, and experienced candidate with a doctoral degree (PhD in biomedical field preferred) with interests in regenerative medicine and a strong desire to be a leader in the field. Experience in molecular biology and cell biology with established publication record is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be familiar with tissue scaffolds preparation, biochemical and mechanical testing. Knowledge and experience in stem cells preparation (iPSCs is a plus), transfection and differentiation protocols are equally necessary. Working background in immunology of grafts and stem cells is desirable. 3D printing and design are not necessary for this position but will be highly regarded. Prior experience with animal handling is not required but will also be highly regarded.
This position has the potential for future faculty appointment and as such, excellent grant and manuscript writing skills are essential as is a proven track record of grant writing ability. The lab is a part of a world-class research institution, with extensive opportunities to collaborate with other distinguished scientists involved in cutting edge research. We offer a very competitive salary and benefit packages.
Interested candidates should send a single PDF file containing a brief cover letter outlining your suitability for the position, updated CV and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Faiz Bhora (email@example.com) and Dr. Sadiq Rehmani (firstname.lastname@example.org)
