The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is seeking applications for outstanding candidates for tenure track positions at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor ranks in the field of Neuroscience.
UIC is one of the nation's leading urban research universities. We seek candidates with a record of innovative basic and/or translational Neuroscience research including fundamental questions in cellular and systems neuroscience. Areas of interest include but are not limited to
- Adult onset neurodegeneration, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's Parkinson's, Huntington's, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and Prion diseases;
- Neurobiology of white matter disorders;
- Biology of acute and chronic neuroinflammation;
- Biology and modeling of neuro-injuries;
- Role of lipids and membrane processes in homeostasis and cell signaling in the brain.
Applicants must be a Ph.D., M.D., or MD/Ph.D. with a strong publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals, and potential for extramural funding at the Assistant Professor rank or current extramural funding at the Associate rank.
The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and be expected to articulate plans for establishing and maintaining an extramurally funded research program that incorporates collaborations with UIC colleagues. Applicants will also participate in teaching in graduate and medical school courses. Highly competitive salary and start-up packages commensurate with qualifications and experience are available.
