The Department of Medical Genetics in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in human genetics and genomics.  

The Department of Medical Genetics is part of the UW-Madison Laboratory of Genetics (www.genetics.wisc.edu), which includes 21 faculty members. Faculty in the department use a diverse array of experimental and computational strategies to understand mechanisms of inheritance and disease. The Laboratory of Genetics offers a collegial and stimulating environment with dedicated support for early-career scientists.

UW-Madison has a strong foundation for human genetics and genomics, including the new Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine, the Carbone Cancer Center, the Waisman Center, the Genome Center of Wisconsin, the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, and the UW Hospital and Clinics. Faculty in the Laboratory of Genetics enjoy diverse collaborations with researchers in allied fields, including biochemistry, biostatistics, and computer science. The department directs an NIH Graduate Training Grant in Genetics that features trainers from 30 departments and continuous funding over 42 years.

The successful applicant will develop a vibrant, independent, extramurally-funded research program in human genetics and genomics. Other responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D., 2 years postdoctoral experience and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Modern laboratory space, extensive computational infrastructure and substantial resources are available.
