The mission of the Lieber Institute for Brain Development is to translate the understanding of basic genetic and molecular mechanisms of schizophrenia and related developmental brain disorders into clinical advances that change the lives of affected individuals.

Job Summary:

The Erwin lab at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow interested in studying how genes and the environment interact to bias human neurodevelopment towards disease or resilience. The candidate would be working with a team of scientists on projects using human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models, brain tissue and single cell (epi)genomics to understand the origin of neurological disorders. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience, genetics or bioinformatics. Candidates for this position would be expected to work within a multidisciplinary team of biologists and data scientists to facilitate goals of the project.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in biological science, bioinformatics, neuroscience or a closely related field 
  • Ability to work and troubleshoot independently.
  • Experience with strong molecular biology and stem cell or developmental neuroscience experimental background
  • Ability to work with/programming in R, Python, next generation sequencing analysis, other bioinformatics techniques.
  • Ability to develop novel approaches
  • Ability to work, support and supervise interdisciplinary work across teams
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
