The role of the Logistics Manager at Merck’s Durham facility is a Supply Chain leadership function with an emphasis on warehouse operations. The individual in this role provides guidance, cross-functional development and technical expertise to the logistics operational staff as well as provides administrative support. Provide coaching support and direction to personnel in various stages of development who are responsible for Logistics and Distribution processes. This role will support the Logistic processes by providing leadership to the support functions required to maintain operations in shipping (Domestic/International), receiving, inventory management, SAP, logistics metrics (KPIs), documentation and facilitating regulatory audits. The Logistics Manager is the primary interface during regulatory audits and driving business strategies related to Quality Notifications, Vendor Management and Project Management functions.

The position requires the ability to support the team during off-shift hours on a case-by-case base to respond to production requirements and to monitor in-transit shipments. In addition, this position will be trained on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Science, Engineering, Logistics or other technical field, preferred) – OR – High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of ten (10) years’ equivalent work experience in a regulated environment.
Required:

- Minimum of five years’ experience working in cGMP environment
- Interactions with regulatory agencies leading audits
- Ability to interpret data, develop KPIs and reporting tools to maintain performance
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient with SAP, Excel and Word
- Development and revisions of standard operating procedures
- Demonstrated strong customer service
- Effectively communicates under pressure and possess strong interpersonal skills

This is a 2nd shift position, Monday - Friday. It is required to start on 1st shift until trained before moving to 2nd shift.
Preferred:

- Familiarity with Cold Chain practices associated with Vaccine products
- Implementation of projects and possess an understanding of Change Management
- Demonstrated strong customer service and execution of action items identified by stakeholders
- Effectively communicates under pressure and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Impeccable team skills, including the ability to coach/develop work teams, provide training, motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict.
