Responsibilities
Research Decision Analytics has responsibility for providing Research portfolio consulting, portfolio management support, on-demand decision consulting, and decision education services to internal customers in the LRL Research area. As a scientist in the organization, you will use qualitative and quantitative tools to enable customers to achieve clarity of action in uncertain and complex situations. To do this, you will engage in the following tasks.
  • Work with colleagues in the broader LRL Operations team to generate appropriate inferences and provide interpretive guidance as the group translates portfolio data into accurate recommendations for action relative to Research portfolio management, and the development of strategies and related executive decision-making for Lilly Research.
  • Provide assistance to internal customers using Decision Analysis, by framing decisions, information gathering, identifying uncertainty and downstream options, building influence diagrams and decision trees as appropriate, developing mathematical models to represent the implications of the decision(s), eliciting probabilities to quantify key scientific uncertainties, and presenting insights of the output of the process to the decision maker/team.
  • Provide formal and informal education of decision-making philosophy, tools and techniques to other Lilly Research employees, and help or lead the development of decision education programs.
Basic Qualifications
  • An advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) in Decision Analysis
OR
  • An advanced graduate degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) in a health-related, scientific or engineering field with 3+ years of experience working directly with Decision Analysis
