Human Immunology and Translational Research Physician Scientist
The Hollings Cancer Center (HCC), a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston currently has 125 HCC cancer scientists holding a portfolio of more than $43M in extramural cancer research funding and is undergoing a major expansion. MUSC also holds the NIH Clinical & Translational Science Award.
The HCC in partnership with MUSC’s College of Medicine (COM) and the Department of Microbiology & Immunology are inviting applications for tenure-track assistant, associate and full professor faculty positions with a research focus on fundamental and translational research in cancer immunology, inflammation and tolerance. The HCC has a strong commitment and established robust programs in gene/drug discovery, lipid signaling, metabolism, tumor microenvironment, cancer immunology, and cancer prevention/control. HCC will provide state of the art laboratory space as well as cutting-edge research core facilities, including a cellular therapy and translational sciences core facilities along with an NCI-designated Clinical Trials Office.
Basic scientists (PhD) and Physician scientists holding an MD or MD/PhD with strong interests in human immunology and translational research are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates should have a proven track record of scientific productivity and funding. Investigators will be expected to maintain a nationally competitive research portfolio that fosters interdisciplinary collaborative research between the HCC and the COM.
Based on programmatic fit and interest of the candidate, single or joint appointments to basic science and/or clinical departments will be made. We will offer competitive start-up funding, brand new laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities.
