For our Advanced Electronics Group we are seeking for a new


Group Leader Advanced Electronics (f/m)


The Position


  • lead the Advanced Electronics Group in managerial, strategic and organizational matters

  • coordinate the identification, selection, development, provision, and installation of high-speed electronics and PLC solutions in the area of beamline monitoring, control and machine safety as well as signal detection of scientific experiments

  • coordinate the developments and maintenance of the FPGA and PLC firmware and frameworks

  • organize the second level support to aid the users of the provided systems

  • drive new developments of cutting-edge technologies to further improve scientific detection possibilities

  • be responsible for reporting, controlling, finances, and manpower resource management

  • interact with an international user community

Requirements


  • university degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics or equivalent

  • experience in running a group in electronics development

  • expertise in the area of high-speed electronics (FPGAs) and PLCs

  • experience in providing hardware / firmware for control and/or data acquisition

  • work experience in the field of photon science facilities is an asset

  • proven management and leadership capabilities

  • highly developed communication skills

This appointment is permanent.


Salary and benefits are similar to those of public service organizations in Germany. In addition European XFEL provides a non-contributory company pension scheme as well as broad relocation benefits.
