PhD/MD degree in cellular / molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry. Solid laboratory experience with cell biological, biochemical and molecular biological techniques, and with standard cell cultures and advanced organotypic cell culture methods. Proficiency in mouse husbandry, mouse colony maintenance and in vivo mouse experimentation. Proficiency in viral gene transfer and histological methods.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Lab of Professor Ute Moll at Stony Brook University Medical School is recruiting a highly talented and motivated scientist with PhD/MD training that is interested in pursuing a postdoctoral position in pre-clinical/translational cancer research.

The candidate will work on NIH-funded projects focused on studying the role of the p53 gene family in cancer and development. The candidate will be exposed to various training opportunities including grant and manuscript writing with the goal that in the second year of fellowship they will have submitted or obtained a fundable grant. Position available immediately. Salary commensurate with accomplishment, fit, and experience.

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Pathology. The incumbent must possess a strong work ethic, scientific creativity and strong written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in scientific software and data graphing. The incumbent will use mouse models and functional genomics to conduct research in the role of the p53 gene family in cancer and development. He/She will ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments using the methods listed above.
  • Write manuscripts and grants and give research presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned including traveling to and presenting at scientific conferences.

Special Notes:

FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain the FLSA exemption.
