The Faculty of Biosciences (www.nmbu.no/en/faculty/biovit) contributes to the development of sustainable agriculture and food production systems through basic and applied research in plants, animals and fish (aquaculture). The Faculty is organised in two departments: Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences (IHA) and Department of Plant Sciences (IPV).

The Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences (IHA), Centre for Integrative Genetics (CIGENE, www.cigene.no) is inviting applications for a 3-year PhD position in epigenomics and genome regulation. The successful candidate will work within the CIGENE environment, which includes comprehensive molecular lab facilities and a strong environment dedicated to bioinformatics and genomics.

The project

The PhD candidate will be part of several projects that aim to understand the epigenetic regulation of gene transcription in Atlantic salmon. Specifically, the PhD will analyze RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and DNA-methylation data to study (1) evolution of genome regulation following whole genome duplication, and (2) the role of epigenetics in transformation of salmon physiology prior to sea migration
