Postdoctoral Fellow – Neuroimmunology
The West Virginia University Research Corporation (WVURC) seeks to hire a motivated and independent postdoctoral fellow interested in neuroimmunology to support the Meares Lab in the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute and Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology at West Virginia University. This position will be working to understand how cell stress and neural injury influence neuroinflammation in autoimmune, neurodegenerative diseases and Stroke. Projects will utilize omics, protein biochemistry, enzymology and molecular mechanistic studies of signaling in vitro and in vivo. The qualified candidate should have strong communication skills in English, be self-motivated, creative, detail oriented, able to work independently in a collaborative setting, and have strong knowledge and experiences of immunology, neurobiology, molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry and/or animal models.
A PhD or MD in immunology, neurobiology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field. PhD students who just received or expect to receive their degree this summer or fall are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the isolation, culture and analysis of cells from the CNS. As well as experience with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and/or the middle cerebral artery occlusion model.

Funding for this position is available for up to 2 years, after which the successful candidate will be expected to secure fellowship (or similar) support.
