Pain Faculty Recruitment - Associate or Full Professor (Ladder Rank or Tenured)

 

The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of California San Diego (http://anes-som.ucsd.edu/), UCSD, is actively recruiting an Associate or Full Professor (Ladder rank or tenured) member to carry on its world-renowned research on pain mechanisms and control. Appointment will be based on the qualifications of the individual. Salary based on current UC Salary Scale.

 

The qualified candidate possesses a professional postgraduate training and degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DVM or DO) in Neuroscience, Pharmacology or Molecular Biology but not limited to these disciplines. The candidate should have a career track record of research and publication on issues related to pain mechanisms, a strong behavioral and molecular perspective on pain, a track record of sustained extramural funding in pain research, an established record of collaboration, particularly with other departments and clinical faculty. A clear interest in teaching and organizing pain relevant curricula, contributing to didactics in the Department and across the School of Medicine; as the intended role of the appointee is to sustain a very active research group and profile, it is not anticipated that this individual will have clinical responsibilities. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in the areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. The primary appointment will be in the Department of Anesthesiology but the possibility of a joint appointment with another Department within the School of Medicine or other School at UC San Diego will be actively pursued base on shared research and teaching interests.
