This is a position in Global Technical Operations supporting Merck internal and external plant sites across the Americas (from North to South America) and occasional support in other Global Regions. The role is for an expert in small molecule solid and liquid dosage products. The candidate must have strong technical (manufacturing, packaging, and/or development) and project management skills, with exemplary leadership qualities. The candidate will become an expert in multiple business and technical support activities such as the Merck Manufacturing Division tier process, proactive technical manufacturing improvement initiatives, investigations and internal/external manufacturing. In these roles, the candidate will manage and own business processes, form and maintain boundary-less cross-functional relationships, obtain an increased understanding of key manufacturing and packaging processes. They will also coach scientist and engineering colleagues within the technical organization, and at manufacturing sites, in the skills of problem solving, technical support, project leadership, change control and effective communication. This person will also lead key initiatives - i.e. complex investigations, process improvement initiatives and technology transfer. The candidate will also provide routine updates on programs, projects and investigation status to management. Additionally, they will work directly and collaboratively with internal sites and external partners.

The candidate will also provide both technical and project leadership support for tactile and strategic initiatives that are required to effectively run the business. Some examples of strategic programs are the globalization of standard work to support process robustness, Knowledge Management, Extraneous Matter minimization and projects driven to reduce product inventory and delivery lead times. Examples of tactile projects include projects designed to reduce product discards and to rapidly resolve supply and compliance investigations.

The candidate should also have the capability and desire to understand the business, Merck Manufacturing Division metrics and how Global Technical Operations support's our customers within Operations and Supply. Last, this position requires a person with a strong desire to learn and apply new and innovative approaches with a high level of flexibility in an environment that constantly changes.



- Bachelor's Degree (Engineering/Sciences preferred)
- Advanced degree(s) preferred


- Minimum of 10 years of Pharmaceutical Process Technology and/or Process Development experience (6+ years acceptable with advanced degree).
