As a Business and Portfolio Data Analytics Scientist, you will provide detailed insight into the Discovery Research Operating Model(s) and Project / Portfolio productivity. Working closely with colleagues in Research, Research IT, Finance, HR, and other components of the Portfolio and Innovation Enablement Group, you will design and implement data collection, integration, and retrieval systems and tools enabling detailed analysis and interpretation of business and project/portfolio data and information. Data and information will be used to construct predictive models and optimization recommendations at both the project and portfolio levels as well as general Discovery Research Business level. You will play a critical role in driving productivity improvements through detailed analysis and modeling of both business level as well as project/portfolio level data. Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate on data systems design and implementation
  • Identify new technologies and capabilities
  • Analyze and interpret trends or patterns from large / complex data sources
  • Build predictive models for both portfolio and business applications
  • Present data interpretations and recommendations
. Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in Mathematics, Economics, Informatics or Computer Sciences
  • OR
  • MS Mathematics, Economics, Informatics or Computer Sciences with 5+ years of highly detailed experience (ie:data analytics, resource modeling, data mining, AI/Learning)
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Demonstrated data analysis and modeling skills
  • Ability to influence discussions and decisions through clear and concise data interpretation, presentation / communication
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis using varying frameworks/tools: SQL, R, SAS
  • Experience with data visualization / BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI, etc.
  • High learning agility
  • Excellent teamwork and networking skills
  • Driven by a quest to understand / solve complex questions
  • Previous experience in Pharmaceutical R&D
