Professor in RNA Biochemistry (open rank)
Professor in RNA Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of Bern, Switzerland, invites applications for a faculty position (open rank) in RNA and disease. The biochemical side of the department’s research is focused on the molecular foundations of biological processes with a strong emphasis on various aspects of RNA metabolism (www.dcb.unibe.ch). The department hosts several groups involved in the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) on RNA & Disease (www.nccr-rna-and-disease.ch) and seeks to strengthen its research activities in this area. The position comes with ample laboratory space, a start-up package and institutional funding for personnel. Hiring levels from tenure-track assistant professor to full professor will be commensurate with experience of the candidate.
Candidates should demonstrate exceptional potential to develop an innovative research program in disease-relevant aspects of RNA biochemistry, are expected to engage in collaborative projects within the NCCR RNA & Disease, and to cooperate within and outside the University of Bern. The candidate is expected to raise external funds and participate in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The deadline for applications is June 12, 2017 and appointment is envisioned to start on February 1, 2018 or upon mutual agreement. The University of Bern is an equal opportunity employer and strives to increase the number of women in the faculty. Qualified female researchers are therefore especially encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a synopsis of their past, current and proposed research, a list of publications, indicating the 5 most relevant papers and an outline of their teaching experiences as a single PDF file to the Dean’s Office (Email: firstname.lastname@example.org) and submit the completed online questionnaire (link to be found at http://www.dcb.unibe.ch/jobs).
