The Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, tenue-earning. All applicants should have a PhD in the basic sciences, and have experience studying cell or developmental biology utilizing advanced and innovative microscopy techniques. In addition to leading a robust extramurally funded research program, the successful applicant will take a leadership role in the UAB High Resolution Imaging Facility (HRIF). Duties include directing HRIF operations, consulting with UAB faculty to advance the use of microscopy in research projects, contributing to the educational mission of the department, and pursuing extra- and intra-mural shared instrumentation grants to expand UAB faculty members access to new imaging modalities (e.g. super resolution imaging, light sheet microscopy).  The successful applicant is expected to be highly motivated, have excellent communication and writing skills, and be willing to perform both independent and collaborative research.
