DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED BIOLOGY AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology is a multi-disciplinary department in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with diversified specialties in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering and food science. Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Toxicology and Environmental Health (Ref. 17021405)
The appointee will be required to (a) conduct lectures, practical sessions and tutorials at taught master’s and undergraduate levels in Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology, Food Safety, Environmental Health, Physiology and/or related disciplines; (b) supervise MPhil and PhD students; (c) establish a vigorous research programme at the cutting edge of toxicology, environmental health and toxicology, food safety and/or related disciplines, and engage in other scholarly activities; and (d) contribute to departmental and programme administration as well as curriculum development.
Applicants should (a) have a PhD degree in Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology, Food Safety or related areas with particular background and interest in investigating pathogenesis and detection; (b) have relevant post-qualification experience in teaching and research; (c) have an excellent publication record in peer-reviewed international journals, especially in the areas of toxicology, environmental toxicology and health, environmental epidemiology, exposure science, risk assessment, global health, food safety, pathogenesis and detection; (d) be highly motivated and possess creative talents to develop and apply the state-of-the-art techniques in the areas of toxicology, environmental toxicology, food safety and sustainability; (e) have an established track record in obtaining external funding/research grants; and (f) be able to demonstrate evidence of possession of effective classroom teaching skills.
Preference will be given to those who have an undergraduate degree in Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Food Safety or related disciplines.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor level.
