The Department of Regenerative & Cancer Cell Biology at the Albany Medical College invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels.  Candidates’ research should complement existing programs in the Department which has a strong emphasis on the tissue microenvironment with particular focus on model systems relevant to cancer growth and metastasis, wound repair, regenerative biology, inflammation and fibrosis.  Applicants that utilize multi-faceted integrated approaches involving translational models to address fundamental problems in tissue function and the pathophysiology of human disease are encouraged to apply.  New faculty will be expected to develop an extramurally-funded research program and participate in the teaching of graduate and medical students.  Faculty will have the opportunity to be affiliated with the Cancer Genomics Center at the State University of NY at Albany (SUNY) East Campus. The Albany area is also home to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering, the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for Research, Taconic Farms, the State University of New York at Albany, the Albany College of Pharmacy, and General Electric Health Care Research, all of which contribute significantly to the collaborative scientific environment in the Capital District.  Newly recruited faculty will receive joint appointments in an appropriate clinical department to encourage the development of physician-scientist collaborations which is a cornerstone of the Institution’s Translational Medicine Initiative.

Qualifications include a PhD, DVM or MD degree and a demonstrated track record of excellence in research.  Associate Professor candidates are expected to have an externally-funded research program.  Preference at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels will be given to currently funded applicants.
