This position is within the Protein Optimization Team of Biotechnology Discovery Research, which is responsible for generating, characterizing, and optimizing biotherapeutics from lead generation to lead optimization and preclinical development.

We are seeking to add an exceptional and innovative individual with a BS or MS degree in biochemistry or related field to join a talented multidisciplinary team focusing on optimizing therapeutic properties of biotherapeutics. You will be responsible for purifying and characterizing proteins and antibodies to assist with structure and function analysis. You will also be responsible for characterizing biopharmaceutical properties of the proteins/antibodies using a variety of biochemical and biophysical techniques to help identify and address issues pertaining to the physio-chemical properties of potential protein biotherapeutics. You should possess strong core competency in protein biochemistry, with knowledge in protein structure and experience in protein purification, biochemical/biophysical analyses, and protein:protein interactions. Moreover, within the Protein Optimization Team you will contribute in cross-disciplinary efforts.

The responsibilities include:
  • Purifying proteins using various chromatographic techniques
  • Characterizing protein structure and stability using various biochemical/biophysical approaches
  • Characterizing protein:ligand interactions
  • Analytical and binding analysis method development
  • Working in multifunctional teams
  • Presenting experimental data at team meetings
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Protein Biochemistry or related field with more than two years of research experience or Master's degree in Protein Biochemistry or related field is required.
  • This position requires hands-on experience molecular biology, purification, and characterization of proteins.

Additional preferred skills and/or experience:
  • Capable of independently designing experiments, generating data, interpreting results and documenting work.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, self management, task planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with protein engineering.
  • Knowledge on neurodegenerative diseases driven by protein mis-folding.
