Research Associate or Research Assistant (Leukaemia & Stem Cell Biology)
Research Associate or Research Assistant (Leukaemia & Stem Cell Biology) - 3 posts: 2 in biology and 1 in bioinformatics
The purpose of these posts is to develop and expedite projects aimed at characterizing transcription factors/epigenetic modifying enzymes in normal and leukemic stem cell development using newly developed disease models in the lab. For the biology post, the qualified applicant is expected to have a good track record and strong experiences in performing wet-labs on global transcriptional and epigenetic studies. For the bio-informatics post, we are seeking a highly motivated computational biologist to work on transcriptional and epigenetic regulation in normal and leukemic stem cells, a close collaborative programme between the Leukaemia and Stem Cell Biology Group led by Professor So at King’s College London and the Computational Regulatory Genomics Group led by Prof. Boris Lenhard at Imperial College London.
Transcription factors and their associated epigenetic modifying enzymes are frequently deregulated or even mutated in human acute myeloid leukemia (Zeisig et al., 2012, Cancer Cell). Over the years, our lab has focused on identification and characterization of key transcriptional and epigenetic networks critical for leukemia development (Kwok et al., 2006, Cancer Cell; Zeisig et al., 2007, Cancer Cell; Cheung et al., 2007, Nat Cell Biology; Arteaga et al., 2013, Cancer Cell; Esposito et al., 2015, Nature Medicine; Cheung et al., 2016, Cancer Cell). Details about the lab can be found at www.ericso.org. The initial contract is for1 year, but is renewable subject to the progress of the projects. Candidates are expected to have strong background and relevant publications in areas of stem cells, leukemia biology or computational biology.
The posts will be fixed-term contracts for 1 year.
The salary will be paid at Grade 6 for Research Associate, £32,958 to £39,324 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance; or at Grade 5 for Research Assistant, £27,629 to £32,004 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance depending on qualifications.
To apply for this post you will need to register with the university’s recruitment system, HireWire, by using the apply button provided to download and submit the application form. Please note, if you are submitting a CV or a short statement these will need to copied and pasted into the application form as part of the same document, as the system only allows you to submit one document.
