Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) in Richland, WA and the School of Biological Sciences invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in microbiology or microbial ecology. This position will start Fall Semester, August 2017 and is a full time, academic year position. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an internationally recognized, externally-funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate student research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and participate in service needs. The area of research specialization is open, but priority will be given to candidates whose disciplinary focus is microbial biology, microbial ecology, human microbiomes, biofilms, or computational modeling of microbial communities. Research of applicants should complement existing research on WSU Tri-Cities in health sciences, evolutionary morphology, developmental biology, bioproducts, viticulture & enology, food and environmental quality, clinical and community psychology, personality disorders, K-12 STEM education, and nursing practice.  Biology-based, interdisciplinary health science has been identified as one of the key research and teaching clusters at WSU Tri-Cities. The campus has a one-of-a-kind research and teaching Wine Science Center, opened in 2015.  Research of the successful candidate may contribute to one or both of these initiatives
