The Lagor laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to develop novel gene editing vectors for the study and treatment of lipid disorders. Projects involve using Adeno-Associated Viral (AAV) vectors for gene delivery to liver and skeletal muscle in preclinical mouse models. Closely related projects involving regulation of cholesterol metabolism using newly generated mouse models are also available. The best candidate will have a strong molecular biology skill set including tissue culture, molecular cloning, western blotting, Q-PCR and experience with viral vectors. The postdoctoral fellow should also have experience with the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis, obesity, diabetes, or muscle disease in mouse models. Previous experience with AAV and genome editing systems would be ideal, but not required. The postdoctoral fellow should be able to formulate testable hypotheses, design and execute experiments, and be willing to work collaboratively as a member of a research team.
