Post-Doctoral Position in Computational Modeling
We seek a highly qualified individual to develop and refine mathematical models concerning the genetic transmission of engineered transgenes in natural and laboratory populations following small or large-scale releases in the context of gene drive. Responsibilities to include designing and running simulations of gene flow and spread in natural populations, incorporating existing parameterization through interactions with laboratory staff and through the published literature, and identifying critical unparameterized information. May assist and supervise graduate students and undergraduate students in the laboratories of Dr. Zach Adelman and Dr. Kevin Myles at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and will be part of a large interdisciplinary team working on methods for engineering natural populations. Starting salary is commensurate with experience, but not less than $47,000.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science or related field. Candidates should have demonstrated abilities in designing, testing and running mathematical models of complex systems; the ability to analyze pre-existing code and write reports. Candidates should be skilled in disease modeling, transmission dynamics, or the modeling of complex populations with both spatial and temporal components. Knowledge and ability in both continuous and stochastic modeling preferred.
