Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Scientist will join the preclinical Diabetes Drug Hunting Team to be a part of the Pancreatic Islet Biology Group that is focusing on discovery and development of the novel therapies targeting the pancreatic beta cell function and health under type 2 diabetes settings. The Postdoctoral Scientist is responsible for carrying out basic and applied research as an individual contributor in the area of the pancreatic beta cell health and differentiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments examining pancreatic beta cell function and mass
  • Effectively collaborate with other groups in the Discovery Biology to support multiple basic research projects
  • Contribute to the general scientific community through external publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Keep abreast of relevant scientific literature/new technologies/capabilities
  • Provide internal/external influence
Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, or related field
  • Experience with pancreatic islet cell biology highly preferred
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Experience with pancreatic islet cell biology: islet isolation, insulin secretion, beta cell proliferation and death assays
  • Experience with immunostaining techniques and image analysis
  • Experience with primary cell culture and gene expression analysis
  • Demonstration of scientific and people leadership skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
Additional Information
This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.
