Postdoctoral Position in Vascular Remodeling at The Scripps Research Institute
A postdoctoral position is available in the Milner lab at the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in La Jolla, California, to work on vascular remodeling and blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity in inflammatory demyelinating disease. The research will focus on the roles of specific extracellular matrix (ECM) receptors (integrins) to either promote vascular remodeling or stabilize BBB integrity. This study will employ the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model of multiple sclerosis and will include the use of several endothelial-specific integrin-deficient transgenic mouse strains to define the roles of these integrins in regulating BBB integrity, vascular remodeling, vascular inflammation and activation of endothelial signaling pathways.
Ph.D. required. The ideal candidates should be highly motivated and have a strong background working with mice (preferably with the EAE model) and with standard genotyping and immuno-histochemical and fluorescent microscopy techniques. Experience with animal cell culture would be a plus. Applicants are expected to have excellent communication and writing skills and be capable of working independently and as part of a team. The position is open until filled. Please send a CV and a list of three potential referees to Dr. Richard Milner at: firstname.lastname@example.org
